At the turn of the City of Detroit, Hope Village stood as one of the many staple communities within the city and like many of these communities over time have fell victim to economic downturns, changing populations, and the development of new residential living districts. Urban Scale Foundations aims to further establish their presence within the Hope Village Community, tackling a rehabilitation of the 13828 LaSalle Property.
Detroit is enriched with an impressive history and Hope Village is definitely a crucial part of its history. This community has experienced systematic disinvestment over an extended period of time. Urban Scale Foundation identified that the heart and passion of the people of this community can recover and we wanted to be a part of that change.
There is a need for quality and safe homes in the community and resources of homeownership and financial literacy education. Urban Scale Foundation had an opportunity to purchase a home to from FOCUS Hope to be the revitalization of the neighborhood.
Our goal is to retrofit & renovate this distressed property with innovative smart technology and energy-efficient amenities to create a self-sufficient green property for homeownership. This home will reduce the carbon imprint and save the homeowner cost on utilities. This home and others after will be affordable for the population in the community.
Urban Scale Foundation has started a Patronicity Campaign to raise funds to support the 13828 LaSalle Residential Rehab Project. One of many homes to be offered to participants who complete a HUD-approved Financial Literacy and Home Owner Education Program.
